About the Role
Ben Bellucci Academy is looking for an enthusiastic, spirited, and reliable After-School Cheerdance Instructor to lead our elementary programs in Prince George's County. This role is perfect for someone with a background in cheer, dance, or pom-poms who loves working with children and wants to help them build confidence through movement.
As a BBA instructor, you will teach students (Grades K-5) the basics of rhythm, teamwork, and school spirit. We are looking for a mentor who can create a high-energy environment where every child feels like a star.
Key Responsibilities
Routine Instruction: Teach age-appropriate cheerdance routines, incorporating basic dance steps, rhythmic movements, and cheer motions.
Skill Building: Instruct students on fundamental cheer techniques, including sharp arm motions, jumps, and vocal projection (cheers/chants).
Performance Prep: Help students memorize short routines for "performance days" to showcase their hard work to parents and peers.
Safety & Technique: Ensure all movements are performed safely, focusing on proper form and stretching to prevent injury.
Positive Environment: Foster a supportive atmosphere that emphasizes "spirit" and teamwork over perfection.
Logistics: Manage student check-in/check-out and ensure the designated practice space (gym or cafeteria) is left clean and organized.
Qualifications
Experience working with children (coaching, teaching, or camp leadership preferred).
Background in Cheerleading, Dance, or Poms is required.
Strong ability to lead a group and maintain a fun but disciplined classroom environment.
High energy, reliability, and a passion for youth development.
CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
Must pass a comprehensive background check in accordance with Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) safety standards.
Schedule & Pay
Hours: After-school hours, typically 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM (varies by school).
Commitment: 1–3 days per week.
Pay Rate: $22.00 – $27.00 per hour based on experience and background.
